AVMM & Sustainability

At AVMM, we truly believe that sustainability is the only way forward for the future of the fashion industry. As a fashion brand, we’re aware of the responsibility we have in contributing to the fashion system in the most conscious way: from the people who work with us and the fabrics we choose to the way we ship your order, everything we do has a mindful approach.

Our efforts towards a more circular and sustainable production are ongoing. Here’s where we’re at.

Design

We believe in sustainability through design and opted out of the fast fashion cycle. Our design approach is not trend oriented, but rather strives to create timeless garments meant to find a lasting home in our customer’s closet, season after season, year after year, as a continued source of quality and versatility with our classic silhouettes and quality materials.

Fabrics

We rely on a few trusted suppliers who we know can get us high-quality materials. Our first choice is always natural fibers (such as wool, silk, and cotton) or sustainably-produced fabrics (like lyocell, modal and OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics); for our limited-edition pieces we choose deadstock fabrics, limited meterage of material left over from larger fashion production, available only until fabric stocks last.

Production

Local, small-batch and made-to-order production are our focus to eliminate risk of overproduction, ensuring that all clothing produced at AVMM finds its way to a loving home. Aside from producing many of our made-to-order garments in-house in Berlin, we are proud to work with local seamstresses and family run manufacturers for our larger orders. Minimizing waste

Reducing waste to a minimum is part of our mission, and that’s why we repurpose fabric scraps from our own production as much as possible creating a variety of accessories, vanity pouches, sleeping masks, and homeware. 

Packaging

You will receive your order in simple, sturdy, reusable and recyclable cardboard shipping boxes securely closed with paper tape. 

Our hang tags are made from recycled paper and our labels from organic cotton.
